Oaks of righteousness is a ministry to the boys on the streets of Mbarara Uganda. The name comes from Isaiah 61:3 -(NASB) That the boys of the streets could come to know Jesus and be as strong for Him as the great and mighty Oak.
This home was built by a retired teacher, Pat Kokura from Port Alberni in British Columbia. Now in her 80’s Pat has retired and a young man she has trained, Herbert, has taken over and is directing the home along with the assistance of several staff.
The home is a shelter, provides love, food, clothing, counselling, training and education. They are developing some projects to be self-sustaining. Fruit trees, gardens, mushroom growing, and hopefully a nursery school down the road.
Herbert has a wife, twin girls born in 2011, a son born in 2013, and his last born was born in 2018.
